The overall goal of the project is to improve energy efficiency and sustainability when propelling a variety of marine small crafts; ships, submarines, drones, ROVs and yachts through water. Furthermore, proving the innovative functionality, durability and efficiency of a propulsion system that can completely disappear when it is not engaged.
The propeller efficiency that was tested, showed to be very good. An efficiency of over 64% is very high, which is a great advantage for an electrical system. The mechanical design and the design of the complete electrical system including all control, monitoring and charging systems, as well as the electrical drive train, were proven to work satisfactory and to some extent even beyond expectations.
Even regenerating power abilities of the propeller and its systems were proven.
